Neo 2 wont run SHOX
 

HI

I was wondering if anyone with a ps2 could confirm that SHOX and some other games just WONT run with a NEO 2 Chip.

my frien has one and every now and then a game wont run, i told him to throw that peice of crap machine to hell but he sais that many games will run just fine!

his second theory is that a wirre has droped from the board so it ****s some games up, he can not as an example run Originals...

it would be good if anyone could confirm that hes machine is crap so that i can tel him to get a new one. or atleast a new chip...

OK... I'll confirm it..... The Neo 2 is a CRAP chip....Get rid of it now, before it screws up your friends PS2.....

Get the Messiah 2 and you have no more worries....

can you explain why it will screw up his ps2? also, is it just neo 2, or neo 2.5 as well?

The Neo line of chips, pulses 5 volts to the laser.... This is too much voltage.... It will burn up the laser.... They had a fix, and you are supposed to install a capacitor, it helped the problem tremendously, BUT it didn't take care of it 100%.....

As far as the 2.5...... I'm usure.... Maybe someone else can confirm it....

**** that neo chip sucks.. i told him NO more games wit hthat chip, hehe..
someone on IRC told me that all games that i thought were coasters is NOT... he had a neo 2 chip and when he got the messiah all old games would run... crap.

is there anywhere that i can read more bad things about the neo chip? i'm concerned whether i should shell out money to get a self boot chip and have someone install it...

get rid of that chip and buy a Messiah 2 instead. my friends macine is screwed... it cant even play originals anymore

I ve got a neo 2.2 with a capacitor installed on a v4 and after 8 months suddently all dvd-rs freeze, pause etc.

Its a fact that the laser wears out after sometime..
I just play until i see it die...
so i bought a v7 and i am waiting for my messiah 2 to install.

p.s. i am wondering when will the cdrs refuze to play??

there is a neo 3 in the states that they claim boots all dvd backups

I would never buy anything with Neo in its name.

i'll probably try to sell my ps2 with neo 2.5 and try to get a new ps2 and a self boot chip. the problem is finding a pro to soldier it for me in the san jose area...
