Playing DVD+RW media - Movies

Will a movie play in the DVD+RW format on the PS2 without a modchip?

I have ripped movies and they will not play in my PS2, but will play in other DVD players.

I have read of using DVD+RW for games and a modchip that work but will it movies work on their own.

I have a Ver1 PS2.

Thanks

If a DVD+RW game works in your system then a movie on that type of media will also work. You will need to encode the movie in the right way though.

But will a movie work with out a modchip.

TylerDurden 29-11-2002 12:54

Yes, it sure will. No need for a chip on a backup movie.

In theory yes. With no modchip, you'll justhave to try it.

As Tylerdurden says, the movie needs to have been re-constituted properly to work. DVD+ media usually works only in v5/v6/v7.

Thanks alot

I have copied quite few movies, but they just don't work in my ver1 PS2.

It may just be the +R format. Try those same movies in newer version ps2's.

I make movies myself and they all work in my ps2 on other peoples as well. At this point in time I have only used DVD-R for my movie making.

Just tested my discs on a Ver7 and they all work fine. Boots up just like the original movie.

another thing to take into account
when i first started burning movies if i used nero 5.6.6.4 the movies would play in standalone and not play in a ps2:(

same movies burned with prassi would play in a ps2 :)

but my guess is your v1 wont play dvd+r
