to charlie_ps2 or anyone who is smart....i am struggling with messiah!!!!
ok, i just installed messiah chip, and i have problems :(
> >i have a scph-30001, v4 > >i enter a ps2 original - boots fine >i enter a ps2 cdr backup(dvd-rip) - it goes to a screen that is black with "Playstation" on it(looks like the old playstation logo), and freezes there. >i enter a ps2 dvd-r and i get the red screen psx 1 backups hang at the logo screen also. i did the test thing, with the GND,3.3,reset,scex thing and the psx1 backup booted fine. this means the chip is ok right? what should i do? i resoldered all the bios points. still doin it. i have the proper lengths of wire, and thickness for gnd and 3.3... this is gettin very annoying i need help! what else could it be? |
if ps1 game boot the chip is good
either lose connection or a bridge or u solder to a wrong point |
i've soldered the bios and dvd/ic legs twice and i have the same result! damn... i dunno what to do. ther not bridged, becuz ive checked em all with a multimeter. the chip i have is a clone from evolutionmods.com. i did the test and its good. im totally stumped.
can someone tell me what points could be the problem from the symptoms i had from my first post? |

Seriously though, assuming it's NOT a Messiah clone and it is a true Messiah then with your chip in 4 wire test mode:

well i know its a messiah clone, because it doesnt look like a regular one...ive seen pics of a real one. the one i have doesnt have the 3 larger pads for the gnd, and 3.3, ther normal size, and a buncha things on the chip, black box looking things that are on a normal messiah are way different on this. to tell u the truth i didnt know it was a clone when i bought it. damn...ill do those checks later on.
and i also did your recommended goto the browser and put in a dvd movie, and that passed with flyin colors. i dont have any of the a-i bridged, ive checked with a mag glass and multimeter. its weird when i try to load a ps2 cdr backup, it comes with a black and white screen, that says Playstation(the old style one) with a buncha messed up looking graphics below it. and i listened to the cd drive, and its like it stops the cd from spinning, and hangs there. |
I have pretty much the same issue. The games I have backed up (PS2) play fine on other chipped ps2. I have tried the chip in the V4 and get the same error, Red screen asking for a disk. So I then tried the chip in the V5 and still no joy. I am using Traxdata media. How can I tell if is is an original Messiah or a clone? Can some post a pic of an original pls

Don't know if this will help anyone. Most of you will already know this, but I have been struggling with a V5 ps2 playing PS2 backups that work in other versions of PS2. Once I have installed the chip, I was testing them without having the top case on, guess what! put the top case on and hey presto, no problem reading disk. must just be not quite dark enough for good reflectivity on DVD-R. It maybe that some of us (not the guys that have done it regular) are testing them this way.

Hey Dust.... See if you can get a good clear pic of the Original Messiah and the Messiah 2....If you do...Send them to me please..:p
|
another thing that i did that who knows could b my problem is i cut the big metal thing that goes on top of the motherboard, because my double sided tape was too thick and it hit the messiah. could this be affecting the ground? i know ther are ground points on the edges of the board...could not having the big metal casing thing on the messiah half of the board cause it to not work?

Thats the one I been getting, but like I mentioned earlier, I cracked my issue, just simply cos top cover weren't on, who would have thought eh? Thanks for the piccy guys
