Newbie questions here....

Is there any way you can play backed up PS2 games on the console without doing any modification to it at all, i mean no chip no game shark thingy, nothing?

If so please tell me, weather it be burning it differently or doing a cerain boot method please say. Also, ive been surfing around and saw that the games come in either CD-ROM format (Purple Back) or DVD Format (Silver Back) and just wondered, how do i copy them? i assume that cd-rom format would be a a straight copy. Now for the dvd format, as ive been looking ive seen dvd rip kits for certain games and thought...is there any bunch of programs that can just rip any game instead of keep downloading the certain kits? I have a DVD-ROM,and a CD-RW (unfortunatly no dvd-rw then dvd's would be easy :-) Recently ive sussed out how to rip normal dvd movies which got me into thinking about ps2.
Thanks.

Yes there is, it is known as the knife trick. It basically involves jamming an object underneath your disc tray and forcing the tray drawer open. It is a bit like forcing the lock of a door, do it for so long then the lock becomes damaged therefore causing the door to become useless, in the end you will need to go out and purchase a brand new door (or PS2 in your scenario). So basically, nobody on this board would advise you to use this method. Mod chips have come down considerably in price now

Yes, for 1:1 CD backups use CloneCD, you can also use CDRWin & Nero for CD backups

Easier to purchase a DVD writer. Using rip kits is still widely done, the best rip site on the net is http://ps2modz.cjb.net/ for all your rip kits and information

Thanks.

Okay, thanks for that info m8.

Isent there any programs that would rip all games?

not too sure, you would be best to check that site out.

TylerDurden would definately be able to answer that one for you...
