You haven't changed the dashboard? Have you ever loaded a program called boxplorer in your xbox? This is utility that allows you to browse, copy, and delete files off your xbox withut evoX. If you accidentally deleted a file, then this could be the problem.

If you hit the "go live" feature in a game, and powered off in the middle of it, this could also be your problem. In which case, you'd have to replace the "c" partition. In which case I can send you a 120mb file (if you haven't backed up your HDD).

Sure you didn't do anything else?

Have you ever connected to your xbox with evolutionX? If you haven't, then your gonna have to learn how. If you can't, then we'll have to do it the hard way, with boXplorer.

First off, do you have cable internet? If you do then I can send you backups of the "c" partition. If not, then I hope you know someone else with a modded box. You need to replace all the files in it, and delete a couple as well.

If you can connect, you'll have to delete these folders: "xboxdashdata 100271000" and "xodash
But DO NOT delete anything untill you can replace the "c" partition i dunno what will happen if you delete these, then reset your console.

Also note that some people are not able to reconnect to their xbox's with evoX after they did this, I on the other hand was lucky. I powered off before i got the message "cannot connect".

but i think i will leave messing with the HDD of the xbox until i have read up on evox as it sounds i could leave my xbox useless my knowlegde modchips, bios, evox and networking is very basic

Do you have a cable ISP?

Make sure you DO fix your harddrive before you try to go on xbl (which is out). This may further mess up your xbox. Also, the only way evolutionX can flash your bios, is you have the bios on the disk, which can be removed from the iso before you accually burn the CD.

Anyways, all you do is drag+drop, and choose "overwrite". It will then overwrite you crap stuff with the new stuff. I suggest reading up on it quick, I'd hate to have my xbox like that. Makes me wonder what would happen if it was unplugged for a long time and the clock settings reset.

major **** up,
your last statement on the last post well i had a power cut last night and you were right about the clock resetting now i can't get anything to boot up originals or back ups. has this left my xbox useless or can it be saved
many thanks alabama

Do you know anyone else with an xbox, that is willing to let you barrow their hard-drive? Doesn't matter if their box was modded or not. You need to boot up their HDD, and copy the stuff on it with evoX. I know a way that might work, but you need to barrow some1's HDD. Also, you may need to purchase another HDD ($40 or so for a samll one, a little larger than the xbox hdd).

OK, this first method might not work, and I dunno what will happen if it doesn't. You switch HDD's with someone else's xbox. Power on and load up evolutionX.
Then connect to evoX with FlashFXP and copy the C drive. Shut-off your xbox and quit flashFXP.
Next, boot up you xbox and load evoX again. Then (this part, im not sure what will happen) Switch HDD's while still powered on and THEN connect to your xbox with FlashFXP. This will connect to your F'ed up HDD.
Then you send the C drive (that you copied) and overwrite the messed up files.
Note: I dunno if you can switch HDD's while still powered on. You have to do this if you do the HDD mod so I'm only assuming it works.

This is the second method. You also need to barrow someone elses xbox HDD. You switch it with yours and boot up. Then you do the HDD mod found here. You will need to buy another HDD to replace the old one.

switch Harddrives with someone elses and boot up your xbox. Then switch back after the xbox was on already. This allows you to connect to your old xbox HDD with flash fxp. Then you replace the files.

My second method is just a basic HDD swap with a larger HDD.

alabama 18-11-2002 10:19

could you please tell if it is possible to swap my chipped up xbox hard drive with a new xbox hard drive or is it not that simple
because the company that chipped my xbox tell me that the new xbox HDD are not the same as the old xbox HDD is this true or not (i purchased my xbox in march)
many thanks for your time alabama:confused

Quall999 18-11-2002 13:54

I don't see why they wouldn't work the same. People have tried and reported that xbox hard-drives works amongst eachother, and if not, find someone with an xbox that was built b4 Aug 2002.

The reason why your xbox won't boot is because the files on the hard-drive, which the xbox boots to, got messed up when you hit the "go live" thingy. Try it, if it won't boot, then your out of luck.

Quall999 18-11-2002 14:59

nm, don't use ebay

Go to this forum and look for someone selling an "unlocked" xbox HDD. If it is still locked, it's useless.

alabama 23-11-2002 07:34

hi quall999,
thanks for all the replys about my locking up problem
i looked for a hdd on the forum site the hdd drive were from (ntsc) xbox could not find (pal) xbox
so i was advised by someone if i had the excutor chip install you could access the hdd and solve the problem
paid £70 to have the excutor 1v installed, which did solve my hdd problem.
so warning to anyone hitting xbox live setting in game and then turning machine off as this corrupts the hdd and leaving you with a big hole in your pocket
the only plus side is my my xbox is now fitted with a switch so it is xbox live ready ....... again thanks for your help alabama:)

Quall999 24-11-2002 10:25

You have the x-ecutor installed right? I want to know if you have a disable switch as well. Also, did you have a backup of your "C" drive? If you didn't back it up, I suggest you do. Your xbox won't work without the chip, which means you have to have it on all the time. Which also means you can't go on xbox live, or you'll be banned permanatly for having a modded xbox.

alabama 25-11-2002 10:48

hi
yes it has a switch installed also the term the guy used who install the mod said he put the original virgin bios on the HDD i have not yet left the power supply off to see if it resets and still functions.
thanks for the reply alabama
