evo x

what is evolution x and how do i use it

Quall999 12-11-2002 16:51

EvolutionX is a utility that is ran off the xbox, which allows you to connect and browse your xbox through an FTP program, like FlashFXP. You connect your xbox to the same router/hub that your PC is connected to, and ftp to it. This allows you to browse your xbox, backup gamesaves, and backup your xbox games by browsing the "D" drive (the dvd-rom). A very handy utility, in my opinion.

To use it, you must first get Evolution-X and burn it to a dvd/cd-rw. Load it in your xbox. Connect your xbox to your PC network. Then ftp to your xbox with a program like FlashFXP.

thank you i really need that

do you have to have you mod chip already in or no and will the x ecuter work on my brand new x box

Quall999 13-11-2002 12:20

A modchip is needed to run any "non-official" software off the xbox.

Jake The Actor 09-12-2002 02:11

Help please.....

Ok, I got the chip and everything installed fine, its tested and works. I get everything fine and dandy until I connect to my XBox. I get to the part where it says 200 Type set to ASCII.
PORT 192,168,0,2,11,27 and I get a connection timed out after like a minute or 2. I can't seem to get a file listing. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

I am using the old version of the Evo and would like to try the new and see if that works. I am also using a router to do all this and I seem to have everything connected fine. Thanks for your time again.

Try pinging your XBox in a DOS window to see if you are trying to connect to the right IP address. Don’t know whats wrong, but that mite be a prob…

Jake The Actor 09-12-2002 08:11

Yeah, its the right IP address.

Here's what flashfxp says:

Connecting to XBox
Connected to 192.168.0.3 Port 21
220 Please enter your login name now.
USER xbox
331 Password required for xbox.
PASS (hidden)
230 User xbox logged in , proceed.
SYST
215 UNIX Type: L8
PWD
257 "/" is current directory
TYPE A
200 Type set to ASCII.
PASV
502 pasv is not implemented.
PORT 192,168,0,2,18,100
425 Can't open data connection to 192.168.0.2:25618

What I don't understand is why is it trying to connect to 192.168.0.2:25618, when I have flash's site manager info set to 192.168.0.3:21? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jake

How do I put Evo x on my X-box?
I burn the .ini file to a dvd/cd-rw and put him in my X-box.
How do I load/configure the program? I have to change/copy some files?

THX,

Beertje

Quall999 09-12-2002 15:16

Jake, uncheck "use passive mode" and then try to connect. If that fails, try turning off your firewall (if your using zone alarms, then that could be the prob).

beertje, when you burn it to a dvd, do you also burn the "default.xbe" file? Also, did you create an xbox iso file of it first, with Xiso?
After you burn it, you can change the settings in the program and it will save to your HDD (save is called "remoteX").

Jake The Actor 09-12-2002 16:05

I already tried it with passive on and off. Still nothing. That was the first thing I thought of. I'll try turning off zone alarm, but I don't think that's the problem since I use flashFXP all the time. Thanks all. LEmme know if you think of something new.

Ok I have now some new files of Evox:

EvolutionX_beta_V1.8.3285_no_matrix_inside.rar
EvolutionX_beta_V1.8.3285.rar
EvolutionX_beta_V1.8.3285.nfo

EvolutionX_beta_1.8.2594.rar
EvolutionX_beta_1.8.2812.rar
evolutionxv1_8_458_iso.rar
EvolutionX_beta_1.8.2812_WORKING_DUMMIED_ISO.zip which contains the file EvolutionX_beta_1.8.2812.iso (643Mb)

Just to confirm that the 1.8.2812 is the newest version. I guess the iso file is the easiest to use for a newbee like myself?
