Fitting 5.3gB on one DVD

I've ripped a film (video and one sound option) but the size of it is still 5.3gB which obviously won't fit on one standard DVD.

I've seen a program called FukNCalcdvd which apprently can resample it and shrink to fit a DVD, however this program won't work on Windows XP or at least on my computer.

Does anyone know a way of resizing this film to shrink the AC3 and M2V file so that it fits on a DVD?

Is it worth tryng to rip it again with a lesser sound quality?

to make it fit you'll need to re-compress it. Get tmpeg, rempeg or preferrablly CCE. On www.doom9net there is a java based calculator that'll give u the CCE settings required for it to fit on a dvd or cdr based on the settings (mins of film, audio rate, media u wish to use) that u provide.

And no it's not better to rip it with lower quality sound, what's the point of dvd with stereo sound?

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a go.

And a very valid point about the sound, well made.

Thanks

Got a bit of a problem with that web address, unless the server is down. The web address is dead.

Is it safe to presume by CCE you mean Cinemacraft Encoder?

hi m8
the calculator u r using will not work on xp as u said but if u download the net framework update on the windows update site it will. it does tell u to do this on fukrulez.com.

if u want to make your film smaller use rempeg2 or cce . these program are what the calculator was made to be used with..
rempeg2 is a very good tool and its free but CCE is the dogs bollocks .

also u will find fukrulez guide's very usfull 2...

whoops, sorry about that missing '.'

u can actually download that calculator and run it from your pc too, but u do need to have the Java thingy installed.

Rempeg was good but for me it used to take 10-12 hours to do a movie on a P3 800. Switching to CCE it took 3 hours per pass and i'd do 2 passes - so 6 hours.

After upgrading to an Athlon 2000+, CCE now take 1.5 hours per pass.

So forget about Rempeg, get your hands on CCE.

If you want CCE 2.62 (FULL) I got it. If you want it I can e-mail it to yuh or send it to u through some program like ICQ, MSN. And no problem about the missing '.'.. Periods can be evil (****in gf).. hahaha in more wayz then one.
