How to tell what ps2 Version you have?
 

How do you tell what version ps2 you have. I looked on the back of my ps2 and I have SCPH - 30001 NTSC. Does this mean I have V1?

Also what do you think about the magic 3 mod chip? Would you recommend it?

Date Code is on the US version serial sticker.

** A v5/v6 PS2 can be identified by looking inside the top rim of the Expansion Bay. If there are three screws, two flush (brass) and one recessed in a flange (silver) then it's a v5 or v6,

this would make a good sticky post once all the info has been compiled.

The site is insufficiently detailed to be accurate for the 5% that ends up filling these forums!. There is a v4R not covered there; there is no differentiation at the BIOS level; datecodes are an important clue for US models - not referenced.
