<(= -City Of Babylon- =)> PS2 question sheet
hello world ;) ,
I decided to write a quick question sheet for a number of reasons. I hope answers will be shorts and precises, thanx you: -> At present, which is the best modchip ever made for the ps2 unit ( price doesn't mind ) ? -> It's known that there are 2 formats existing as dvd support , DVD-R and DVD+R, and it's said that only DVD-R ps2 backups can be read by the console, is that true ? -> I just bought a DVD recorder RICOH DVD+RW/+R MP5125A, it burns only DVD+R(/W) media, can my ps2 games be fully fonctionnals on my console ? -> Anyway, what is the best DVD-RW/-R burner available for sale (PIONEER,...) ? -> I heard about "laser calibration", how could i do that ? (without destroying my console), what's the method ? -> The file extension for my ps2 backups are xXX.ISO. What should i use as burning software ? PrimoDVD seems to not support my recorder (pbs with ASPI drivers, i don't really know...maybe DVD+R format disabled...) About Discjuggler (4.00), what are the settings to burn DVD backups ? (Mode 2, 2352, CD-XA) , (Mode1/DVD , 2048 , CD-ROM/DVD ), ... -> Do bakups have to be patched for working, which prog' (ppf-o matic,...) ? END IF YOU HAVE ANY ADVICES TO GIVE ME ABOUT PS2 BACKUP METHOD ( recording speed, medias, settings, ...) ,I WOULD BE VERY PLEASED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT IT . Thanx for all, waiting for your answer... -= CoyoteFunky =- |
I will attempt to answer your questions fully. Deep Breath and here we go...
Q: -> At present, which is the best modchip ever made for the ps2 unit ( price doesn't mind ) ? A: Messiah's or Magic 2's are the best in my opinion and the new Messiah 2 joins them at the top of the tree. Q: -> It's known that there are 2 formats existing as dvd support , DVD-R and DVD+R, and it's said that only DVD-R ps2 backups can be read by the console, is that true ? A: Yes for V4 and below but V5 and up can read DVD+R. Q: -> I just bought a DVD recorder RICOH DVD+RW/+R MP5125A, it burns only DVD+R(/W) media, can my ps2 games be fully fonctionnals on my console ? A: Yes providing you have a V5 console or above. Q: -> Anyway, what is the best DVD-RW/-R burner available for sale (PIONEER,...) ? A: Yes, Pioneer drives are the best. There is a Sony drive which is supposed to be quite good though. -> I heard about "laser calibration", how could i do that ? (without destroying my console), what's the method ? A: Unless your console has trouble reading backups then don't worry about this. Q: -> The file extension for my ps2 backups are xXX.ISO. A: For CD's: (Mode 2, 2352, CD-XA) on CDRWin. But in future use CloneCD - no patching and a perfect 1:1 copy to match. For DVD: Use Nero for .ISO files. Q: -> Do bakups have to be patched for working, which prog' (ppf-o matic,...) ? A: Only if you have a modchip which requires a boot disc to load up backup games. If this is the xase, use PPF-O-Matic. Hope this helps... |
Not bad lucfan. All were very good answers.
But just as a note: Not all v5 and up ps2's will play dvd+r it is sort of a hit and miss thing. You may want to just test out one or two copies using dvd+r and see if it works on your console. Disc Juggler 4 will burn your iso's as well I just use default settings and it works fine. Patches are also used to change regions, only when necessary. Tyler! |
Thank you very much Tyler :)
