Have I backed up to wrong media?
 

After using my PC to play dvds for sometime, I finally decided without looking into it too hard, to buy a set top.(today)
Trouble is it wont regonise the "Backup" dvd+r im sticking into it.
So looked in the manual and it states it will play dvd and dvd-r.
My backups were tested on a friends cheap and nasty set top
and worked fine.
Whats the best course?
Do I take back the set top and find one that plays +r or should I be making my backups to -r.

-r is more widely used and is supported by more dvd players. I would stay away from +r

After posting, I carried on looking thru varius threads and found my self at a compat bility table that says my settop should play all the formats.
At present I am chasing round the varius ways of writing to the discs to make them dvd-rom.
But I will take into account your dvd-r suggestion as the media certainly seems to be much cheaper.

Oh and ps I can write to both -r and +r simply because I have 2 systems one with each.
I wouldnt be here now NO matter how fast my machine is if I only had one.

After reading the posts from Polosolo and BG I can only say SORRY.
Sorry that I actually thought I might get a proper answer from people who obviously come from bloodlines with limited gene pools.
Polosolo you better hope BG dont stop to quick, as you might find your whole head will disapear up his anus.
As for being banned, dont bother, I only came back to see if BG backs was up (IT WAS), and wont be coming back anymore.
One final thing BG, its nice to see you tennesse folk have shed your hillbilly past and swapped ur Banjos for computors, all you will have to do now is drop the incest and you wil have reached the 21st centuary
