Backing up PS2 games with the Toshiba DVD-r

Hi,

I bought the Toshiba DVD-r (the 5002 model) and am having trouble playing the backups. It seems like it is having trouble reading the disk. The one game ive tried so far gets to the initial screen (ie it loads) but then it hangs there.

Any ideas on how to make this work?

IT WORKS!

Just for anyone interested in a dvd-r that is faster than the a04, about $100 cheaper and works flawlessly... the toshiba sd-r5002 kicks some major @$$.

IT WORKS!

Yeah, i can see why it would do that. Basically, if i burn to an image reading at 1x and then write at 1x it works flawlessly (tried a couple games now with 100% success). I was having trouble because i was trying to burn on-the-fly. Im gonna try to read at 1x and burn at 2x as i think the reading is the more important part, but i will let everyone know how that goes when i do it.

The NEW Pioneer A05 burns at 4X....
Will have to wait until mine gets here to see how WELL it works at 4X....(or how well the PS2 will read a dvd-r burned at 4X)

Also NOTE: To all that own the A03 or A04, Pioneer has released a statement concerning using 4x capable media in the A03 & A04... You will NEED TO UPDATE the firmware BEFORE USING these discs.....
Pioneer states that disc damage or DRIVE DAMAGE may occur if the firmware is not updated.....:(

LOL My thoughts exactly :) I think i will stick with the pioneer dvd-r drives. They are the proven winners.
