Do I need a new Mod Chip?
 

Backups of my older games seem to work fine but have backed up newer games nothing happens when I press X to start without codes. I have an external Neo Key. The PS2 makes a whirring noise as if it's accessing the CD but nothing happens. Is there another way of booting these backups? Or do I need a better Mod Chip? :(

Try pressing O+R1 instead of X...

Still doesn't work. Any other ideas or ways I can boot up?

Since your older backups seem to work but the newer ones don't, we need to look at you backup procedure..

How are you backing the games up:
What program do you use.
What media do you use.
What speed are you burning at.
