ea error

Hi. I am having problems making a back up of madden nfl and ssx. Everytime I use cdrwin I get a error message saying: unable to read data sectors 126738 to 126764 on device 1:0:0 Illegal command request 04h 00h 02h 05h 64h 00h. I have been using all the different settings from various tutorials but seem to have no luck. Any idea?

I assume they are both cd based games, correct?
Madden 2001 & 2002 were cd based (at least the US versions were) but Madden 2003 is dvd based...
SSX is also cd based....
How do the original discs look.... Are they scratched or anything...?

Use Clone CD to backup those games...CDRWin will NOT make a 1:1 copy like Clone CD will...
I successfully backed up all three of these with Clone CD (SSX & Madden 01 & 02)

Yeah, the cds look alright. They are cd based games. I can back other games up, but the ea sports games are not coming through, keep getting error message while trying to create an image. I have tried using cdclone but I do not think my burner is compatible. (atapi cd-r/rw 4*4*32).

Most read errors indicate a damaged or dirty original. It doesnt have to be scratched to have errors and the original may seem to play fine. First wash the disc with warm soapy water, NOT HOT, if that doesnt help try copying from a different original. Also, Cdrwin will not read a 2 sec track, Try clone cd if your burner is compatable or blind read, write.

Cheers. Will try that.

Um, really getting pissed off (sorry!) I have just tried to backup ssx and nbastreet but still getting error readings at about the same time as all the rest. Getting error messages with nero and cd-clone as well as cdrwin. They are all ea sports game and so am suspecting that there is some sort of protection or something to prevent me reading the cd? I am still making backups of non-ea games but really need to backup ea games. Surely someone is having similar problems?

This might help.
1. Uninstall Clone CD and reboot.
2. Change your system region setting to Canada and reboot.
3. Install Clone CD (DO NOT SELECT AUTO UPDATE)
4. Try to make a 1:1 now

If your region setting is for the US or Japan and some others, it disables the weak sector amplification of Clone CD. Maybe this is causing you trouble. If that doesn't work it's only 1 CDR huh :)

Mines not disabled and its set on US....

EA games do have protection BUT its nothing that Clone CD and a 100% compatible burner can't handle....

What cd burner do you have? Model number etc....

The disc you are trying to copy are damaged, It doesnt have anything to do with it being a EA game. NO PSX or PS2 game has intentional errors. If you get a read error then you have a finger print on the disc or it is damaged. Copy from a different original.
