Newbie Question/EVOx

I'm trying to install the EVOx dashboard, however, i don't no what this means below;

make note of the IP address which should have been assigned by your DHCP server. It should be something like: 192.168.0.x (where x is a number from 1 - 255).

Do i need to enter a static IP address in the network options?

I've read some of the FAQs on xbox-scene and i dont find them of much help, call be brain dead if you want.

Could some one give me a step by step guide plz.

Thanx!!
:D

Is it the new version of evoX? Or is it the one at gamecopyworld?

to connect:
With the new version, go to options, then type in what you want the static IP to be (ex: 192.168.0.138) and save changes. Then use an ftp program (flashfxp is best). Put in the Static IP, and for the user name + password, put in xbox.

to set up the dash:
1. Next browse the dvd drive (drive "d"). Copy the files "evox.ini" and "default.xbe" to your PC.

2. Then, goto the "C" partition. rename "xboxdash.xbe" to "msxboxdash.xbe"

3. Copy the "default.xbe" and the "evox.ini" to the "c" drive.

4. Rename the "default.xbe" thats on the "c" drive, to "xboxdash.xbe"

that should be about it.

It's Version 1.8.458.

So in the network options do i just enter in that IP address that you typed in the last post in the Static IP address option, and do the same in FlashFXP?

What about the second option below that, 'Gateway' i think do i need to enter anything into that?

Thanx for your time.

;)

That is the old version, so you don't need to put in a user name and password.

You shouldn't need to do anything to the gateway, but mine is set to 192.168.0.1

And 192.168.0.138 was an example, but it should work. If not, try 192.168.0.4. It all depends on if you have other PC's on the network. You wouldn't want to have the same IP for it, and your xbox.

And in FlashFXP, just go to [FILE]-->"Quick connect", and type in the IP address (the same as what you put in for your "static IP"). Then connect. I also recommend that you copy the original "xboxdash.xbe" before you rename and/or remove it.

I entered the Static IP address 192.168.000.004 and the same for FlashFXP, but get a connection failed (connection timed out message. Did i enter the numbers correctly?

Is the number 192.168.0.4 the same as the one above, as you only change the first digit to either a 1 or a 2.

thanx again

I don't think it matters, but try replacing the 000 with just 1 zero in flashfxp, and then try connecting. If not, try changing 192.168.0.4 to 192.168.0.129 in both flashfxp and your xbox.

IP addresses are ussually atomatically assigned to whichever PC logs onto the network first.

Edit: I just found out that you can't connect to your xbox if the network cable was plugged in after you turned your xbox on.

Also, if you want to see if your xbox is even on the network at all, open command prompt (click "start" and goto "run". Then type in "cmd"). Then, while in it, type "Ping 192.168.0.XXX".Where you replace the XXX with the xbox's static IP address. If you get a no responce, then your xbox isn't on the network.
