can you copy xbox games?

is there any way its possible?

Quall999 01-10-2002 15:30

Yes, and it is quite easy. As long as you have a hub to connect your pc to your xbox through an ftp program.

You'll find everything you need in the guides section.

i know you have to go through the network to make an image and then burn but, just curios why cant the original disk be copied?

Quall999 04-10-2002 19:22

in a way, you are copying the original disk.

The PC DVD-rom cannot read xbox games. So you have your xbox read it instead. The ftp is used to connect to your xbox, then to copy the files directly off the dvd, which is sent through the network to your PC.

Could someone hook the dvd rom from the xbox up to their pc and then read the game in the xbox dvd rom and burn it in a dvd burner?

breezy 05-10-2002 08:09

on the link yo u gave above shows different guides you can do to the xbox. one of them is to replace the dvd drive in the xbox with a pc dvd drive. why can this drive be used to copy xbox games since it obviously has to read the xbox game.

The drive is used to read copies. Not original xbox games. I just lets you use different types of media not just -rw.

I'm having some problem in backing up my original games. Halo backed up no problem. But my other two games (Obi-Wan, Bruce Lee) has some minor defects. For Bruce Lee, the text are in blocks, all the text are in block shape. Everything else seems fine. The (3.7G) iso is made from XiSO. For Obi-Wan, it hanged on loading the level and no sound in the entire game (2.6G iso file). I made the iso from XiSO connected with WebDrive. Anyone having the same problems with these games? Or should I use wsFTP send it to my computer in binary mode and then use XiOS to make the ISO?

Sidenote: Bruce Lee, I used WebDrive and use Explorer to do a regular copy and paste to copy over to my hdd

Thanks all!

Bruce Lee

Hi NamSey,

Your not the only one with the Bruce Lee problem... I get the boxes with no text as well. The game seems to play normal, but you can't read any of the menus. One thing that is strange, is your ISO size. Mine came in at 3.92GB...... I'm getting that feeling that this is the start of many more games that will have these weird problems.... I hope my feeling is wrong though..

I also haven't came across anyone who has had no problems backing up this game...

BTW, Is you Bruce Lee game the PAL or NTSC version??? Mine is PAL...

Caps made me not care about what you posted. Edit it, and maybe you will get some help.

I can't stand a sentance made by caps.

I estimated the actual size of the iso. But that's what is showing me in explorer. My game is in NTSC. I read in other threads that other ppl are backing up with no problems. My next step is FTP over to my computer in binary mode and write to a CD-RW. I will continue to look for the solution to this problem.

Thanks for the reply NamSey..

Good luck...

BTW.. Is there anyone who has successfully made a backup of MotoGP or the Crash Bandicoot game??? When I have gone to backup my originals, they come up with a "Scratched Disk or Dirty Disk" error....

Thanks,

Schotty

I used FlashFXP like the guides suggested. I made sure that I downloaded all the files (Bruce Lee DVD) and made an ISO file with the size of 3.8GB -est-. Then burn it on Princo DVD-RW. When I loaded it up in XBOX, the texts are still rectangles. What am I doing wrong? The warez site has Bruce Lee in .RAR files, and do they don't have text also? My next step is to make a direct copy to the XBox HDD with the new EOVx dashboard. See if loading off the HDD will have no texts also. I will post the result here when I have it.

If anyone can help me, please guide me to the right direction! Thanks all!
