PS2 & Magic2: Is there a rule for booting?
 

Hey gang, I finally got my PS2 back from Bill w/Magic2 v5/6 "R" only mod and I'm attempting to backup my collection but having strange results. Sometimes I have to hold the reset button for 5-6 secs for the game to load while other times it just loads, keep in mind this procedure varies depending on whether the game (org or bkup) initially loads. My SOCOM org game also got the "Insert PS or PS2 game disc" msg until I did a hard reset. The bkup of Xtreme Racing loaded right away no probl the first time then the laser couldn't read it the next day.

Here's my info:

Media - Smart-Buy Black CD-R
Game - X-men (fighting game PS1 I think)
Burner - Plextor 40/12/40A
Speed - CloneCD 1x & 8x
Results - Game loads but some scenes skip and game select screen repeats
Boot Method - Hold reset for 5 secs

Game - Xtreme Racing (Motorcycle game PS2)
Burner - Plextor 40/12/40A
Speed - CloneCD 8x
Results - Varies
Boot Method - Loads w/o holding reset sometimes, other times it won't even read the disc

Media - CompUSA DVD-R
Game - Tiger Woods 2002
Burner - Panasonic LF-D311 DVD-R/RAM
Speed - Nero 5.5.9.9 1x
Results - Nada
Boot Method - Everything I could think of
Comment - I'm pretty sure it's the media, I'm going to try the Verbatims.

For Media usage use Sony or TDK or Verbatim works fairly well for CDR games..As for DVD-R's once again use TDK or Verbatims.
As every PS2 laser is different so some might use Generics and get away with it but for best results above mentioned media's work the best.
Clone CD is the Best CD duplicater out there. Nero excellent backing up DVD-R's..
