how to open Mafia's cabs with i6comp?
 

Hi, I just cant open the data1.cab from Mafia with i6comp.

Ive done this,
at first i have copied all files from the Mafia cd3, where the data1.cab and data1.hdr to a folder called Mafia, then i have copied data1.cab and data1.hdr to the C:\Windows\ where i6comp.exe and its .dll is. and ive copied the backup.exe to windows. now i am opening i6comp and give the command:
i6comp l data1.cab *.*

what is the program saying? normally it shows all the files the cab contains but no, it says:

no files matched the criterica, duh!

but why? what am i doing false???

try it without the *.*

ok, now ive read some more again
and i thought i found out, where the problem was.
i had to copy the i6comp.exe and .dll to the command folder and after that of course the .cab and .hdr and fixed.exe too. I did it, and now the program doesnt say no match... but cant open data1.cab!

What is it? I mean it is an installshield 5.x or 6.x? isnt it, what can i do

What error message do you get exactly when trying to open the data1.cab?

there's an updated i6comp 6.x version somewhere (ask someone else where to get it, i can't remember), but the updated (bugfix) helped me with alot of compatibility errors

ive just found the exe from the game somewhere else, so sorry. but y did the program i6comp dont open the cab? ok its doesnt matter anymore

Maybe you forgot to change the attributes of the necessary files.

what do you mean you ve found the exe from the gaME from somewhere else?did you fiond a fixed by someone else exe?

eh, can some1 explain why 'name' wants to extract or modify cabs?

i have mafia and mafia's game.exe is in cd2, not in any package(cab).

i think we need some answers here....

Having just read the thread, thats what im thinking. There are no .cabs on the Mafia CD's.

Just to get this straight, the file to be replaced in an installsheild setup is in data2.cab not data1.cab. Mafia doesn't even use installsheild. The only setup cabs on CD3 aren't even game files, it seems to be audio drivers.

have you checked this for sure?
