Black and White
Hi. I am looking to backup my original Black and White game cd. As per all the threads Ive read on here regarding this, Im supposed to use a patch archive that contains "bnw_uk.bat" and "cdcopy.txt", an executable archive that contains "runblack.exe", and another archive:I6Comp v0.2. My problem is that GameCopyWorld, the ONLY place Ive seen that these files could be downloaded (except for I6comp v0.2), no longer has them. Ive found the following instructions from htt%%p://gamefix.********/black_white.htm.
1)Create the following temporary directory: TempDir#1 : C:\TEMP\CD TempDir#2 : C:\TEMP\PATCH 2)Copy the full contents of the original CD to TempDir#1. 3)Copy the following files from TempDir#1 to TempDir#2: DATA1.CAB DATA1.HDR DATA2.CAB 4)Remove the Read-Only protection from the above 3 files. 5)Extract the Executable Archive to TempDir#2. 6)Extract the I6COMP.EXE from the I6Comp v0.2 archive to TempDir#2. 7)Open a DOS-Box, CD to TempDir#2 and execute: i6comp r DATA2.CAB RUNBLACK.EXE This replaces the original RUNBLACK.EXE with the No-CD Executable. 8)Copy the following files back from TempDir#2 to TempDir#1: DATA1.CAB DATA1.HDR DATA2.CAB 9)Burn the contents of TempDir#1 to a CD-R using this CD-Label: BNW Play the game! Ive done steps 1-4. My question is what exactly is the executable archive referred to in step 5? They have a bunch of executables tht can be dl'ed (and I dl'ed them all.) I have no idea though which of those (singular, plural?) I need to extract to the directory, or even if i need another file thats not listed. Im obviously clueless when it comes to making game backups. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. PS-Here are my available tools: TDK 40x/12x/48x CloneCD4 ClonyXXL2.0.0.6 Nero5.5.9.9 |
They are talking about a self-extracting archive which does no longer exist. Instead you should download one of the .rar archives there, depending on what version you have.
Btw, as you are using clonecd4 it shouldn't be too hard to make a working backup of this game without patching as it has one of the earlier sd2 protections. Or you could do a working "unprotected" runblack.exe using safedisc2cleaner which can be found here. Thanx to bOOls eYe. |
