Help for a begginer

Ok, I know little to none about cracking, I have a little knowledge of C++ and Windows and I need help to crack a program.

I'm not sure what is it using, it needs a master disk to uninstall protection, once you use the disk on one computer you can't use it on another one untill you install the protection again. The disc wont let me copy it, I've tried perfect copy, several image programs and so far nothing have worked. What is worst I think i screw the disk and now I can't use the damn program.

So now I want to crack the program. I think it may be using something called copycontrol but I'm not sure if that's the program it uses or just the name of some command I readed in one of the security .exe's that it have.

I'm working under Windows 98 (by the way, this whole mess started when I tried to change to XP)

Come on

What did I do to deserve this silence?. Come on people I really need help over here.

Let's try some simpler questions:

How do I find out what program is this thing using to protect itself?

Is there anyway of coping a protected floppy?

Arkaham 12-09-2002 15:48

Thanks anyway

I was afraid hearing that, but at least now I know I have to stop trying.

So. what's the next step. How do I crack a master-disc protected program?

Monty Burns 13-09-2002 02:37

I have never had a prog protected in that way, but it should be MORE OR LESS comparable to a dongle protection, so there should be a way to circumvent this protection.

Nothing more to say at the moment, sorry.

Which progs have you tried?

Arkaham 13-09-2002 19:50

images

I tried Floppy Image, Shrinkwarp, Flopimager and Winimage. I alsp tried copying the files directly to the hard disk, including the hidden ones. I tried using a Mac (diskcopy) too.

And thanks Mr. burns, now i have somewhere to start looking.

themis_t 14-09-2002 14:43

ok...go on searching and then give us your results...

Monty Burns 17-09-2002 07:41

Any results yet?

I am really interested in this topic.

themis_t 17-09-2002 13:16

why so burns?

Monty Burns 17-09-2002 13:23

Easy themis.

I hate if I don't know how to circumvent a protection. I am always interested in getting more knowledge.

themis_t 17-09-2002 13:38

so,we r gon have to wait....

Arkaham 17-09-2002 17:00

Waiting...

I'm sorry if I have you waiting, but like I said I had no experience whatsoever when i posted the first time.

I've found great things in the net, tought. I've done some tests and learned a lot. However the search is slow and I don't have all the time I need.

Now I'm kind of depressed and I'm about to start rambling so stop reading if you want...

It's funny how hard it is to find free stuff to crack. I mean, I always tought people dedicate to cracking programs cus they believed there was something wrong with the overcharging of some companies, or because they wanted to help the ones who messed up like me and lost their money because some lousy protection. Or just for the fun of sharing knowledge.
Meaby is because I saw that damn movie with Angelina Jolie back then or something, but I think finding pages where they ask for 40 bucks for a program that may or may not help you crack another program is silly. Not to mention pages where they ask for membership so you can crack the demos of cracking software and other pages where ads jump everywhere and helps you hack the memebers passwords of the memebership pages.
Well, I guess i'm just a romantic who had this silly idea of the hackers, but meaby the big money sign did corrupt everyone.

There are plenty of free sites for tuts and forums for the passing of info.

Do a google search for Krobar (good site for tuts), and there are many of forums which may provide some help.
