Problem booting dvd-r's

Hi, i've got a AR2v2.2+NEO2.2 and i'm trying to boot dvd-r's.
I do what it says in a manual that i have but when i put the gran turismo 3 codes and then try to select WITH CODES a message appear saying TOO MANY CODES and then AR2 crashes!!! I don't know why this happens, and because of these crashes i cant play any dvd backup. Are there any other boot methods or anything i can do??
Maybe if i download a previous version o AR2 i could boot a dvdr without problems. Does anybody know where i can download it??

I'd appreciatte some help:(

Load the AR2 disc into the console and power it down by pressing and holding reset. Restart the console by pressing and holding reset, do not let go, allow AR2 to completely load, then swap with a original dvd game, wait 15 sec, Select AR codes and turn on or off any code on any game and press start, select with codes and press x to boot the game with codes, a black screen will appear that says updating codes please wait, immediately release the reset button, the tray should eject, swap original dvd game with dvd-r backup, tray will close automaticly and backup will load.[list]

it doesn't work

I've tryed your method, and everything seemed to be ok but when i put the DVD-r backup the game didn't boot, i tested with all my original games. My ps2 made many noises but it DIDN'T BOOT :(.
Is it normal that when i put the dvd-r backup at the browser my ps2 can't read it and says DISC READ ERROR?? I'm starting to think that the backup has a problem but the guy who sold it to me says that he had played with my dvd-r backup!!and when i put it on my computer, it seems to be OK!

Please, say something i'm getting desperated. Cause i love this game SILENT HILL 2 and i can't find an ORIGINAL to buy.

Sounds like your laser is starting to get weak...
Could also be cheap quality media...
Do you have any backup games that do work?

I have a PAL PS2(European), that is only for USA PS2's.

Well what is the SCPH # on the back of your PS2?

NightStalker 09-09-2002 18:19

Sounds like you have both a weak laser along with a poor backup. Most likely it's cheap media.

Netslider 10-09-2002 12:47

My SCPH number is SCHP 30004 R.
And I doubt the laser is weak as I only use cd-r media like Verbatim.

I believe you have a v5 console, If so it wont boot dvd-r with a neo 2.2. On versions 1 thru 4 with a neo2.2 you can preform the EA swap method. By this i mean you should be able to press and hold the reset button for 5 sec then release, the tray should eject, then close by it'self after about 5 sec. The v5 doesnt support this swap method. You may need to update to a magic 2 or a messiah.
