The Thing Cracked EXE Problem.
 

I just downloaded the cracked exe from GCW and when I get into the game I can go as far as to select the difficulty and then the game just freezes up. I can hit ESC and close it out but still..does anyone know how to fix this? or if there is another patch I could use? Thank you.


Ps. I did install the official update before using the EXE.

I can't seem to find the crack EXE for The THing on Gcw can anyone provide me a link to this file.

is it just me or is only the crack from razor still available on the site? i don't see the one from deviance.

never mind i thought the one posted on the 27th was the one from deviance...my mistake.

Razor's crack for the Thing
 

I can't get Razor's crack to work, and I'm using XP. Mine stops right after the difficulty menu as well. Not to be a creep, but is there a system that this crack does work on?

hmmm, i'd also like to know what system razor's crack works for. vluka says that the crack doesn't work for win9x/me systems so i thought it would work for me since i used w2k. i was able to get out of the difficutly menu but i get a ctd when i click on new game. so according to reports here, it doesn't work on win9x/me/2000/xp.

hmmm...ok....i'll just leave the cd in the drive and wait for deviance's crack to be posted, no biggie.

Make sure you put the crack file in the bin folder which is inside The Thing folder. Then rename it to TheThing.

Should work fine.

That's what I did. Then I got a pop-up saying the main file needed to start the program was missing. I tried installing it to all the other folders too.... it just doesn't work, not past the difficulty menu.

The razor crack worked fine for me

What Am I Doing Wrong?
 

If there's nothing wrong with the fix, then I must be doing something wrong. Can anyone give me any idea what I'm doing wrong, or anything I may have left out? I installed the game patch to update the game, then I removed the original exe from the bin folder and replaced it with the fixed exe, which I then labeled as The Thing. Have I left something out? I'm using Windows XP.
