No One Lives Forever Help

Hi,

I've just backed up No One Lives Forever using PrimoDVD but when I try to play, it doesn't boot i get nothing just a blank screen. Is there some sort of protection on this game or is it just a dodgy backup?

I was using the Pioneer A03 -> DVD- R White Top General Purpose Media. PS2 with NEO4 Using the DVD Swap trick.

Thanks for any help.

Probably your media..Use TDK,Verbatim or Imation. Sony is relatively good also. Non name brand media's are questionable on machines.

I'm with A03 on this one... There is no protections on DVD based games (YET).... Most likely you have a bad burn or media problem...

Does the NEO4 swap trick invole the size of the TOC...( ie. must swap a larger toc disc )???? May also be your problem???? Sorry but I am unfamiliar with the way the NEO4 works.... Just trying to give you some ideas....

There are two dvd games that are protected as of this post. They are:

1. Draken The Ancients' Gates (PAL version only)

2. Xenosaga (dual layered game over 4.7gigs, Jap version)

What type of protection is it...?

1. Drakan has some sort of new protection that wont even allow you to back it up on a dvd, (PAL only). I have the NTSC version and there is no protection on it, I am currently trying to rip it myself.

2. Xenosaga has over 7gigs (probably mostly dummy files) only around 3 gigs can be seen on the first layer.

I have had problems backing up:-

1) Drakan (PAL) - either boots to purple screen and stops or fails to boot at all

2) Britneys Dance Beat (PAL) (don't laugh!!) - will not boot

3) Time Crisis 2 (PAL) boots and plays game but dodgy sound

I've tried the above on a range of media and sucessfully backed up many other games including notoriously difficult ones such as FFX and GTA3

Thanks for the info on Drakan - is there a patch known?

Are the other games above protected in any way.

I know that on Time Crisis 2 the total size of all files is approx 2GB yet the size of the image is around 4GB due to some files being placed at the end of the DVD-r

Any help appreciated.

No patches to fix it. I have ripped my version of Drakan and I get the purple screen when I change the dvd checks.

tmarshall57: As far as Time Crisis 2.... If you can get ahold of a US NTSC version of the game (I have it).... It is cd based instead of DVD based and it copies perfectly with clone cd...... Sound and gameplay is perfect..... This may be a option for you unless you can figure out what is wrong with your copy.....
