Copying PS2 games

Why do some DVD and CD games copy fine and play with a V4 modchip and others do not? With my DVD-R copies, I have to use an original DVD such as Final Fantasy X becuase it has a bigger TOC as you may know. I use the standard DVD copying program that came with my Pioneer A04 DVD recorder, and it copies fine. But only 50% of them actually work with my no solder V4 modchip using Gameshark 2 V2. Do I have to patch them? I though patching was only for PAL to NTSC switching and only for CDs?

Please help...Also If any one knows the secret to XBOX copying I would like assistance as NONE of them work on DVD-R, DVD-WR, CD-R nor CD-WR. I heard only DVD-WR or CD-WR work. I have evolution X ISO and can not get my Enigma X modchip to recognize anything. However, it does play DVD movies well (better than PS2) and original games well.

PLEASE HELP!!!

You didn't mention what software came with your A04....
Try using Primo DVD.....
Follow this tutorial written by Charlie_PS2 to the letter and you should have no problems....
Primo Tutorial ..:p

You should not have to patch DVD games since they are not protected (YET)....

Patching is not just for PAL-NTSC... Its also used for patching certain copy protections such as EA protected games....

I am using Recordnow DX v4.11 (newer version of Primo I believe). This came with my A04 DVD writer by Pioneer. I believe the tutorial will also work with Record now DX as it looks similar enough. I will try and let you know...

They all copy fine using "Make an exact copy" in the Recordnow DX v4.11 wizard but only have about a 60% working rate. This is CD-R and DVD-R's. I can't get CD-RW nor DVD-RWs to work either.

You should not use your A04 for CD-R copies.... It will not make a exact copy because the A04 cannot read sub-channel data...
Whenever possible use a 100 % compatible Clone CD burner and Clone CD 4 software for your CD-R backups....

Also CD-RW & DVD-RW are not rec. for use on a V4...(weak lasers)

You may find that your laser is starting to get weak... Also ALWAYS burn at a low speed ( I always burn CD-R's @ 4X) Takes a little longer but you get a MUCH better copy.....

Also you didn't mention what type of media you are using....
It is NOT AS important on CD-R's BUT on DVD-R's ALWAYS USE HIGH Quality media.... Since the grooves on a DVD-R are much closer together it is harder to read than a cd-r.... The cheaper quality DVD-R's have a poor reflectivity rate thus making them harder to read.....
