Is the CD in the drive? Are you using any cracks?
Try cloning the cd - www.elby.ch
You didn't say what drive you have

you my friend have givin me hope, lol.

drives? i got 2 hd so c and d are them. then e is my real cdrom and f is my virtual
the drive image is created with virtual cd 4.3, my best guess is the sw isnt copying the audio in the same format, or by some sick chance D:\ is hard coded into one of the game files, i have used wdasm and winhex to take a peek at the ascii in the files and there is a bunch of d:\ stuff in there, so I changed EVERY dll and the exe paths to f:\xxx\xxx\xxx and still the same thing, game plays, sound effects play (those sound files are on the hd) but no music, so I reinstalled, from vcd again. and no im not using any cracks. if you mean what my real cdrom is, its ASUS CD-S340, its 32x or higher and if I put the disk in the cdrom and run the game the music works, I installed the game with vcd though so I would imagine it would look to the install path, heh, i got no clue.

Try using Daemon Tools <search Google> as it has a good set of tools and lets you create virtual drives.
