GTA3 backup
 

With my Acer 1208A and CloneCD version 4 and Clony xxl, I am making high quality TDK coasters instead of a working backup of GTA3. Can anyone suggest what I might be doing wrong? I see a number of identities claiming perfect backups but no one is saying how its done. Please help. thanks.

Can your Acer do 1:1 copies?
If so, what settings were you using?

My Acer 1208A can do 1:1 copies and I have used settings 1x read and write speed, bad sector fast error skip (auto), read sub channel data for audio and data, amplify weak sectors, dont repair sub-channel. I have also tried using my Creative DVD drive as the reader and still no success.

Why don't you burn onto a CD-RW to prevent creating a bunch of coasters? It has saved me around 30 CD's by testing it on a CD-RW before I make the final back-up.

jcf_81 wot a good idea! and I assume you are recommending a Sony burner. Still leaves me with the original problem though. I'm beginning to think these guys that reckon they have 1:1 backups of gta3 are pulling my chain. I think this version of safedisk 2 might be the end of backups.

I just ordered a Sony CRX185. Did I stuff up?

I have just made a perfect backup of GTA3. I used a Lite-on 40125S with CCD4 and Clony XXL recommended settings.
It works! It really works! I was beginning to think it wasn't possible.
Thanks guys, I still got the Sony CRX185 coming but I wont see that for another three days. I thought of trying to cancel the order but I'm curious now to see what it can do.

I just tried out my new Sony CRX185A1 and made a working backup of GTA3, same as with the Liteon. In both cases I used CCD Version4.0.1.10 and recommended settings provided by Clony XXL version 2.0.0.6 on a Pentium 3 1Gig, Asus moboard, 256 meg sdram and old faithfull Matrox G400 Max.
All I need to do now is build another machine around the spare burner. Thanks again guys for all the advice.

i made a back just with

FEs on and then tick alwasy close last session.

i have aliteon which makes the difference but i donlt thinkg you need to tick those other options
