Sony CRX 140e/CH2 vs CRX 0811 with CloneCD

I just bought a Sony drive, and got the CRX 0811 instead of the CRX 140e/CH2 which I was supposed to get. Both drives are identical, they just have different id's because they are generally sold in different regions. The CSRX 140 is supposed to be compatible with CloneCD, and should work fine, however CloneCD doesn't recognize my drive based on the different name. Is there a way to make CloneCD try and copy rather than simply give up because it thinks my drive is not allowed? or is there a way to rename my dirve in the system so that it is recognizable? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oddly enough NO Sony site has a reference to this drive at all.
Could find no reference on any burning software sites either..
Could only find it on 3 rather obscure sites using google, one site had both listed.
If you were supposed to get a 140 then take it back and ask for that one.

im having the same problem,i,ve bought and returned 3 so far when i finally got a hold of sony on this matter thay told me that the 0811was a better drive.if you look in the specs in the book you got with your drive the CRX140E/CH2 and the CRX0811 are NOT the same.sony tells me that the 0811 isnt on their web site because its too new(i think its bull).now acording to clone cd it is capeable in writing in DAO-RAW mode and sony alos assures me of this also but ill tell ya i have not yet made anything but coasters,im using a teac 532-b as the reader i dont know if it the reader or the CRX0811 writer.i have tried to back up swat3ee and combat flight sim 2 with no luck.they burn but wont play.if anyone can confirm the Sony CRX0811is compatable with clone cd or any other burning software of that kind would greatly appreciate it

Your issue might be related to the type of blank media you are using. 8-)

Hmmn. I don't know about CloneCD, but I can tell you that CDRWin doesn't currently support the Sony CRX0811 writer. On the other hand, I have had a great deal of success using the Sony CDMaker 2000 Professional that came with the CRX0811. I have successfully copied 15 or so PSX games, both originals and pirate versions. In fact, the only thing that hasn't copied properly so far is the PAL version of Final Fantasy IX. Has anyone else tried to use this program, and if so, what, if any, problems have you had?

DRSG 21-03-2001 14:34

There are like 5 different programs in that suite.
are you talking about the cd extreme program? Also have you copied any pc games that are protected with this program?
