The sims problem

Ok maybe I didn't explain as well as thought. I forgot to mention I uninstalled all the the expansions and the original "The Sims". I also bought a brand new(at the time anyway) Sony Vaio computer with: 1.6ghz pentium 4, 512mb ram no REAL sound card just onboard sound(I'm workin' on it) and a crappy NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model64 Sony video card here is my original question.

Ok, I am new. I have used SEARCH. I came up empty. Here's my dilemma: I Had The original "The Sims" cd-rom. I still have the 4 expansions (orignal) I was careless with my cd-rom(The Sims) and It got cracked. I tried to test in my DVD-Rom and it was Spun-Into_Pieces. I did manage to make a copy of the cd before hand(well kinda) I thought it was ok. It would play fine on it's own but when I tried to install "The Sims: Livin' Large" it would say it has "-1 kb" files space available. Please can anyone help me? I don't wanna have to buy the original all over again.
