PS2 Protection

Is their any US PS2's that are protected? If so is there a list of protected games?

Thanks

Only thing close to Ps2 games that are Protected are EA sports games..That's why there are patches..But I heard that if you make a backup using Clone CD from the Original the patching isn't necessary..So I hear..

SO far, EVERY cd based game for the PS2 that I have copied IS PROTECTED with the PSX/LIBCRYPT protection...
Clone CD and a 100% compatible burner has no problems with protections.
With the mod chip I have, as AO3 said, I have never had to patch anything. I'm not sure if that HOLDS true for all mod chips though.

Just wondering, because i have used cdrwin for every cd based game for the ps2 and it works great. but everyone's telling me that cdrwin won't work with a protected game and i need to use clonecd.

CDRWIN will work, but it does not produce a 1:1 copy like Clone CD does... CDRWIN will NOT copy EA protected games... (Have to patch).... Cloned CD will copy all protected games including EA games.....

Clone CD doesnt make a 1:1 copy of a ps2 game either. If it did then we wouldnt need modchips. It comes a lot closer than other programs though. Another good program, which is highly underated is Blindwrite Suite.

Calm down AO3, I know you dont know me with this username but I have answered many of your questions in another forum. ;) I know what I am talking about. I only point out the details because if a newbie comes into these forums they can be misleaded into believing what is written down.

No CloneCd does not make a perfect 1:1 copy but it comes really close. The files it does not copy are in a way, a form of protection.

Also to answer Breezy's question: I dont know of any place to find a list of protected games. But if you come across a game that seems to give you problems, post your problems here and see if other people have the same troubles.

You could just use ClonyXXL.... It will tell you what protection (if any) is on a cd based game....
DVD based games do not have any protection....
