x-box media

Can anybody tell me what media the x-box reads, such as dvd+r, dvd+rw,dvd-r,dvd-rw

SpOoK 25-07-2002 07:33

I have been using DVD-R/RW and CD-RW and all is ok.

The media I have tried are:
===================
* Memorex DVD-R/RW.
* Viastar Unbranded.
* General Purpose White Top Media.
* TDK CD-RW

The xbox should read DVD+R/RW. Hope this helps you.

From what I heard due to Xbox's great laser obviously it won't make a difference what brand DVD-R or Cd-r you use unlike PS2 with Sony's cheap a** lasers where it's sensitive..

tweaking laser

I dunno where to get a tutorial, and I haven't opened my xbox up yet, but this is how you mod the dreamcast to play cd-rw's and I assume you do the same thing.

When you open up you xbox, there's something near the laser called a potentameter. Which controls the intesity of the laser. It looks kind of like a striped screw. Sometimes they are covered in some kind of hot glue. well anyways, your supposed to turn it clockwise 1/10th, then check to see if your xbox reads the media. If not, turn it another 1/10th and check again. Also, it's always a good idea to mark a spot on the potentameter so you know how much you turned it. But I wouldn't turn it more than 1/4 of an inch if i were you. If you do it too much, you could make your xbox not read anything at all.

If you can get a picture of it, you can probably just follow those instructions.

Don't tweak the laser..Just stick with DVD-R and Cd-R's..If you don't know what you're doing you can seriously damage the laser on the it..From what I heard it's unnecessary..
If you really need to get a 100% accurate instructions..

I don't want to tell you "I told you so" later..
