Self-modding the GC?
 

does ne1 thing that maybe it mite b possible 2 actually mod the cube 2 allow it 2 accept regular size dvds?

maybe removing the casing somehow and then tricking the lid sensors in2 thinking it is close (bit like the ps2 swap trick) and then just bunging a normla size disk in the drive.

surely the data will still be written on the proportion of the disk the laser could actually reach and read.

just an idea?

but im sure then some1 could make a fortune selling replacement larger cases!!!! :)

I don't think this is possible, because even if you remove the case, the laser-eye won't reach this far (hard to explain for me in englisch).... but only about 2 weeks to go, and i will buy my pioneer dvd a04...perhaps we will know more then...

if the rumours are true then how do u plan to get around the issue that the gc disks are written from outside in?

i can't believe this - how should the laser know where to start if it was written from outside in ?

if it is true (and i dont think it is) then the lazer just needs to be calabrated from outside - in as opposed to inside - out.

you could argue that how does the laser know where to start when burned in the normal way!
