a little help please
Hi
Iam new to copying cds and was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to do so. I really want to copy PC games for back up (my four year old brother likes destroying cd's) I have downloaded CDclone but find it very very slow. It reads the cd very slowly. How long should it take to copy a PC game, for example The Sims. Am i using the best software, or is it something to do with my writer, it is brand new - It is a Teac CD -W540E. Can anyone give me an idea of what i am doing wrong. Many thanks |
HAVE YOU GOT A REGISTRATION CODE FOR CLONE CD.
IF NOT GET ONE. CHECK IN CLONE CD FOR YOUR CD REWRITER. FIND OUT HOW COMPATABLE IT IS. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE NEWEST CLONE CD. GOOD LUCK |
Firstly, some protected cds take an age to read if your burner isn't that great. This is because some protections (particularly safedisc 1 & 2) use "read errors" on the cd to deter copying. So, the long time to read is normal. The length of time required to read a cd depends on whether these errors exist or not. Some cdroms are better than others. It would appear that yours isn't that hot!
Secondly, your burner cannot handle Safedisc ver2, but should be able to copy safedisc ver1. I cannot remember which one "The Sims" is protected with so I suggest you get yourself a copy protection detector called "CLONY XXL". You'll find it if you do a google search. It will detect what protection is on your cd, then pass the correct settings over to clonecd for you. And finally, do a search of these forums first as you'll find this kind of question has been answered a thousand times, with plenty of in depth answers. |
sims = safedisc 1
if it is taking you a long time to read discs, search for daemon tools and its fastdump feature. |
Reply!
Hi m8,
Some PC games take longer than others, particularly in the early stages of the copy. I tend to read PC games as fast as possible but write at 4x speed. I never have problems! Trooper |
use clone cd with clony xxl and most of your problems will be solved!!!!!!!!!!
