Clone CD and the EA Method

If Clone CD is used to make a back-up, will EA games boot normally or will I have to use the special EA Method? Otherwise, I'd just use CDR-Win with a patched bin file. I've looked through different tutorials and all I can see is that Clone CD makes a 1:1 copy. I'm a newbie, but I'm still learning.

Depends on what modchip you have.... If you have a Messiah it will boot normally.... Don't use cdrwin(it can't make 1:1 copies). If your burner is 100% compatible with Clone CD, definately use it...

EA games copied with CloneCD on a DAO-RAW+96 compatible reader/burner does not need the EA boot method. It's a 1:1 data copy. Just normal backup boot method.

It depends on what modchip you have as well as the console. If you have a v5 console along with a neo 2.2 then it wont support ea games no matter what software you use. You must patch.

EA games made with CloneCD would work on the v5 Neo2.2

Hi Charlie, I respect you so please dont be offended but i disagree, I have a 100% compatable burner with clone cd and it never worked for me. The v5 uses only 5 wires from the neo2.2 chip instead of 8, There is no way to do the EA tray eject swap method which is required to load some EA games so you have to patch. The neo2.2 on a v5 console is no better than a USB mod. This is the very reason i ditched my usb mod for a no solder mod instead of a neo2.2. At the time origa chip and messiah wasnt compatable with my console, the neo2.2 i tried wouldnt load dvd-r(or much anything else) so the only choice i had was the no solder.

NightstalkerNightstalker,

100% compatible CloneCD EA games don't need the EA boot method on v4 NEO2.2s. So why should they on v5? They just boot with DVD RX or GS2/AR2 without codes etc.

Games like ready 2 rumble round 2 and nhl 2001 will not load with a neo2.2 on a US v4 console without the use of the EA swap or a patch. Some EA games must be swaped without the CPU knowing it and you cannot do this with a v5 console. I will attempt to explain this and yet make sense :)On a v4 console you can press and hold the reset button for the tray to eject for 5 sec then close automatically. This is not supported with the v5 as pins 3,5 and 6 are not used. Pin 3 sends a pulse to the BA5810FP chip telling the PS2 that the tray hasnt ejected when it actually has. One of EA's protection was to use a file in the pressed originals boot data to load. This file cannot be copied by cd writer or ejected into the console by the neo2.2 chip. It must come from a original game or boot disc. When you press eject on a v5 with a neo2.2 it still has pin 2 to send the SCE signal and it has pin 7 to check for PSX,PS2 format but it doesnt have pin 3 to send the pulse to fool the CPU so this file gets lost when it ejects the tray to swap the disc and the CPU resets, the backup will not load.... Hope this makes sense to some of you so i dont get flamed to death:) However most of this info can be confirmed at www.chipzone.com.
