Playing Import PS2 Games

Ok, I have a few questions if some of you guys would be willing to answer them.

What are the viable solutions in order to play import games on a US ps2? I have researched the mod-chips and know that the messiah is the best one, however I'm not so sure how difficult it is to install (I do have some experience soldering but not much).

At this point is a DVD burner really needed? I saw somewhere that some people had released Tekken 4 in a stripped down version (maybe lowered the sound quality or something) so it could be burned to CD (I think)

What are my options as far as expense goes as well? In regards to how much would one be spending if one was to get all the things needed to reliabley play Import and Regular PS2 games on the PS2.

I await your answers,

Thanks very much,

Nicodemus

Get someone competent to install the Messiah or Magic 2 for you. There's no other game in town for hassle free backup gaming

In my opinion Yes. DVD ripping is a poor proposition because 4.5GB are compressed to 650MB - omitting important movies scenes that contain clues or other essential items for the plot.

Messiah/Clone and install will be around, say, $150; DVD burner around $300. Massive savings then arise on your games inventory!

Since you have a US PS2, you can wait for the US version of the Messiah to be released.... Depending on what version your PS2 is, it may be compatible with the Messiah NOW......

As Charlie said, have someone who KNOWS EXACTLY what they are doing to do the install.... If you are in the US I would rec. Freedomlives.com. They are located in Chicago..

If you have the money, definately get a DVD Burner..(Pioneer A03 or A04).... Its well worth the investment.....

Oh, if you find that your PS2 will have to have the unreleased US messiah, contact Charlie_PS2 to pre-order it........

I checked out their website (the chicago based installers) and are they really reliable? I've never dealt with them before, but a lot of the stuff is at the customer's expense and would be a pretty big loss if it didn't turn out to be legit.

Bill is like me and my famous 'mate round the corner'. A pro who has to make a living! You got the problem, he'll fix it and you'll pay for the work. We have to be careful - cutomers understate their problems and some try to swing the outcome of our investigations back onto us; such is the mentality of some of the fraternity. So it's all at the customer's risk and you go by recommendation and advice.

He was one of the first to do that Neo/Origa combo; he does all the Messiah's referred by me and there's a long thread on help-forums (I think) asking whether LOD is reliable. That's him.

As ever my advice is taken at your own risk!!!
