Warcraft 3

Hi!
Bought Warcraft3. Good.
Like to make a backup.
GCW says securom v2
Clony xxl says: no protection detected
CloneCD4 copies without any errors.

Backup does not work.

So what???

bOOls eYe 06-07-2002 05:40

It IS protected with SecuRom v2.
To make a working backup, you have to copy subchannel data from data & audio tracks too.
Before you burn the image, you can test it with Daemon Tools (please use the latest v3.16)

First: Thanks fpr the DaemonTools hint. Great Tool.

Here i go:
I made another Image (cloneCD 4019),
mounted it with DaemonTools 3.16 and...
the mounted image works.
I burned it on cd-r and...

does not work.

what the heck...

Monty Burns 06-07-2002 06:34

This does either mean something went wrong burning the image, or you mounted the image with daemon-tools using securom emulation, which isn't present when trying to start from backup-cd.

I checked it out:
the mounted ccd-image on my harddisk works with and without activated secuROM-emulation under daemonTools.

So that I'm new to daemonTools: this means the image is complete and working?

What the hell can go wrong in burning this?
I activated all checkboxes:
x schwache Sektoren verstärken
x don't repair sub channel
x close last session

and i even got down to 8x-burning speed

any ideas?

- uncheck the "schwache sektoren" box, that's only for Safedisc, if your burner is not EFM capable (see CloneCD site.
- uncheck the "don't repair subchannel data" box

if it still doesn't work:
- try to burn it at 4x

read this thread too, it contains useful info.

Damn.

I followed all your advices.
All failed.

Until today, my LiteOn 2410B burned ALL including EFM and all that shit. Warcraft robbed me so far six(!) cd-r's!

Tonight im gonna try my old plextor-writer.
If an old sony did it, my old plextor will face it...

gh0sth@cker 06-07-2002 10:31

Some Lite-on's have been having trouble with the versions of Securom on NWN and WC3 - Olli will likely have it fixed soon. But use your Plex for now as it should be OK.

nospam 06-07-2002 15:48

Thanx to all... We won!

Finally, old equipment did it!
It is really uncool.

My old Plextor 8432 did it
(with CloneCD 3 and SubChannel NOT to be repaired).

Maybe interessting for some of you:
The Plex with CloneCD3 reported exactly two errors (the LiteOn 2410B with CloneCD4 did not report any errors)!
Read Errors in Sectors:
218 368
281 328

Someone who finds this useful?

gh0sth@cker 06-07-2002 16:11

Read errors aren't normal in Securom so it's likely to be scratches/dirt that the Plex was unable to read. Try repeating the read again to see if you get the same results with the Plex

nospam 06-07-2002 16:14

Same errors.
CD ist absolutly new in top condition.

gh0sth@cker 06-07-2002 16:21

hmmm - anyone else?

podunkviller 07-07-2002 18:54

read from soemthing other than ur lite on, and burn with the lite on. this has reportedly worked for many @ cdfreaks.

Glummo 12-07-2002 21:15

I have a lite on 16102B

Tried Clone CD 4.0
Tried BlindRead/Blind write

Neither worked for me!

Then someone suggested "FANTOM CD"
There is a profile included for "securerom new"

SUCCESS! A perfect copy!
