LOL!

Seriously though, as GH said, some info on, at least, your writer would be good to start with. The more you can give us in the way of info, the more we can give you in the way of help.

If this is Safedisk 2.4 or below then you won't have problems with it. Just use the Game Profile in Clone CD and try turning AWS off.
When it's burnt, enable Hide CD-R Media in the Clone CD Tray when you play it from a burner.

If you got a Plex 24/10/40, you can "perhaps" be able to burn a 1:1 of SD2 (v2.51.021+), notice I say "perhaps", there is a LOT of controversy about this topic. Some of these Plex's can make good 1:1 copies, they are in the minority. If, you're Plex is one of the lucky ones, you're good then.

All I can tell you for sure, is what I know from personal experience, if it's going to burn a 1:1 at all, one of your best settings is going to be the following, no guarantees though!

CloneCD 3/4 Settings:

Reading:
Fast Error Skip [On]
Read Speed [4x]
Read Retries [3]
Error Correction [None]
-----------------------------
Writing:
Write speed [4x]
Write Mode [RAW DAO]
Buffer Underrun Protection [On]

Everything else leave at default, do not use AWS, if your Plex can do SD2, it won't need it.

Good luck.

@bandwidth

Side note to keep in mind, in particular when you're working with a Plex 24/10/40. The original Civ3 (v1.07F) installation is in fact SD2 (v2.40.010), however, when you patch update the game to the current version v1.21F, it will make the game SD2 (v2.60.052).

The burn that will work fine with a SD v2.40.10 have been known not to work as well with SD v2.51.021 and greater, so the burn should be done with that in mind.

I have several burners/readers, as a test, I used a Plex 24/10/40 for this and it works fine with SD v2.60.052, so ->"IF"<- your Plex burner can do the burn correctly you will have no problems, at least, up to SD v2.60.052 so far.

Good luck.

Correction: Clony is a protection scanner not a burning program. You need to get Clone CD which integrates nicely with Clony XXL.

that plex, and the clonecd game profile should make a perfect backup. the only thing plexies have problems with is 2.51.02x
