There are hundreds of softwares to do so, including
MS encoder, argh... or Ulead
In my ripping, i'd rather use ms mpeg4 instead of divX;) codec
Just for compatibility sake.
With Flask MPEG you can get nice avi's from the vobs, and then
rework these avi's with the BEST tool i think there is.
Look for VirtualDUB
