Need help with Jedi Knight 2:Jedi Outcast
Hey- I'm new at this kinda stuff but I have Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, and I was wondering what would be the best thing to do: Make a back-up copy, or use a No-CD patch? Also, how would I go about doing one or the other. I currently have Clone CD if that means anything? Thanks a lot!
Oh, and how do you "execute" a patch? Thanks! |
If u do go the route of making a backup, u in luck. Jedi Outcast has no protection whatsoever. I did a straight copy of it with nero. Before u use a patch it usually has to be unaced with winace ( www.winace.com). Once the patch has been extracted from the .ace file just copy it into your game directory. It should come up with a prompt telling u that a file with the same filename exsists, do u want to replace it. Just click Yes.

Ok, so like, if I use CloneCD, it'll make a straight copy--no problem at all? And when you were talkin about patches--that was for the NO-CD stuff, right? Thanks

WinRAR works just the same as WinACE.
About the patches, you take the patch-103.exe & the start-mp-103.exe and put them in to <jk2 game dir>\GameData. Only after your version is 103 of course! Then double click the patch-103.exe and that'll make SP JK2 NOCD. Now, make a shortcut to start-mp-103.exe and put it wherever may be convienant... cuz that's what you have to use to start a MP game. I suggest you get a .nfo reader.. or open any .nfo files with notepad. http://www2.vo.lu/homepages/eric.fra...der%20v2.2.exe Eh.. that one will work =P Sometimes though, you'll get an error while playing MP w/ NOCD. If that error bugs you, and you have some free time/space... Create an image of your cd onto your HD and mount it using Daemon Tools. You'll run into no errors that way.. cuz the game has 0 protection. G'luck. |
