? about ps2 version

I'm pretty sure I've got a v5 or v6. Here is what I know.

Model # SCPH-30001 R
S/N # FU068****
8 screws on bottom
yes it has the set screw in the expansion bay.

My question is, all of the FAQs I see about finding what version you have say if the s/n is U (whatever) it's a (whatever). I'm thrown off by the F in the start of my s/n. Do I just ignore it? Ultimately, I know I'm going to have to look at the motherboard to be accurate but I confused by the F.

Thanks.

You have a V5 PS2........... The V6 is just a V5 version with the motherboard connector for the front panel button connecting ribbon reversed.

This came from the China-Messiah Website.

It seems that I have a V5. The ribbon port is right side up (the ribbon goes in above the silver contacts). I'm still lost about the s/n starting with FU. Maybe that is Sony's way of telling me something? I have ordered my chip going on the assumption that it is a v5. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks.

I got a Neo2.6 Auto and installed it thinking the PS2 is a v5. It is (was). Everything worked out great. Thanks for all the help.
