Why so expensive (Messiah)?
 

how comes PS2 modchips cost so much (£50ish)?. XBOX mods are about 25 quid (much less if you blow the FLASHROM yourself).

Also where's the cheapest place to buy a mod (Messiah) from within the UK?.

what do you recon is the bare minium for a PS2 + Messiah gonna cost me?, i'm a student on a budget ;-(

Messiah may be more expensive up front than other mod chips but it will pay for itself VERY QUICKLY.....:cool:

i know what you are saying but i'm just curious why Messiah for PS2 costs SO MUCH more than MessiahX for XBOX.

I get the feeling they (messiah manufacturers, not installers) charge more because there is too little competition, unlike in the xbox scene.

Any of the installers care to comment?

The ex-factory price of a messiah, which uses an expensive ASIC, is £15/$25 in telephone number quantities. The supply chain moves the price on from there as they recover their distribution, marketing costs and take profit.

I know that has purchased an XBOX chip for
as little as £10 then paid £20 fitting

but this is due to the chip being simler to the psx
chip

the othe point my dear friend charlie missed was the market place and demand
ps2 has 1 chip which is no swap(messiah)
xbox has about 6 that all work (its called competition)if u want sell your product there r 6 other equal chips it comes down to price
