use clonecd and these setting and u should not have a problem if hard ware is 100% compatable.

make a image with clone cd

set read speed to 1 or 2x
read subchanel data from data tracks
read subchanel data from audio tracks
abort on read errors
every thing else should be grayed out

to burn the image

set write speed to 1 or 2x
select RAW DAO
select dont repair subchannel data
unselect simulate writing (if available)
select burn proof/just link (if available)
unselect perform laser power calibration(if available)
unselect wait until buffers are full (if available)
select always close last session

Try using CDRWin to make your backup.

leave all the settings as default for the read session but make sure that the RAW option is enabled, and use a read speed of 4x.

Create an image to your hard drive first.

To write, again leave all the settings as default this time including the RAW option and reduce the write speed to 2x.

Make sure you are using a good quality branded media such as verbatum, sony or tdk....

If you still have trouble during the read session then you may try to clean the CD with warm soapy water or even a special cd polish to try and polish out any scratches.

just burn it with nero, it'll be fine.
