The most popular modal on the boards is the Pioneer A04.

For me though, I'm gonna wait untill all the standards settle down and the speed, capacity and features improve.

Panasonic

I would rather go with a panasonic. The pioneer ones are good but they only burn till 4.7 G . The panasonic burns till 9. something G. Most movies are betweet 5 and 8 GB. Hope this helps.

no, not true, its a media issue, not a burner issue

Media Issue

Its not just a media issue. Theres different burners that write to different medias. I started off with a Hitachi 2500 which can only write to DVD-RAM. I returned this because DVD-RAMs are expensive as hell. Then I bought a pioneer A04. This burner writes to DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs along with CDRs. If you go to their site, you will find out that this burner can only write up till 4.7G. Then I started researching on Panasonic burners. Panasonic Burners can write both to DVD-rs which are usually 4.7G and DVD-RAMs.

I think it's just too early to buy a dvd-writer, as there is no real standard yet.

but as asked in the first question: what's the difference etween dvd-r and dvd+r and also dvd-rw and dvd+rw.

Friis 28-06-2002 07:14

but isn't the pioneer dvd writer too slow?? it's only 1x. Now i don't know anyting about dvd-writers... yet :D but how big is the difference between 1x and 2.5x???

What do you think about this writer

My Pioneer DVR A04 burns 4GB in just under 25 minutes (approx) using Nero.

This is at 2X Speed.

Fast enough for me for now. Ill buy another when speeds hit 8X or better.
