problem with burn (duh)

I am probably one of the hundreds who've tried burning a backup of Worms World Party. But I refuse to be one of the those who give up.

After using CloneCD to create an image, I patched the Safedisc 2 protection with Playback 2.1. Then I burned it using CloneCD again. I pop the disc in and install it fresh, it installs fine (normal). I go to run it, and it shows the Titus splash logo, but then quits. Usually it'll give me an "Insert WWP disc and try again" or such message. But now it just shows the logo and stops, as if thats all that was expected. Now, you'd think I screwed up somewhere, and so would I, except I try the factory disc just to see, and it gives me the exact same problem. I am somewhat happy I made a nearly-perfect backup of this game... but now neither of them work....

Any Suggestions?

What burner are you running? I have a Sony Spressa USB, model number CDX100E/X2 (Thats what I bought, yet Autodetect tells me its a CDX120E)

In any case, my burner doesnt support Sub-channel and DAO RAW data. Yours might.

Also, the root directory of the CD has a 00000001.TMP file. That should be a dead giveaway, shouldn't it? (its the US version)

Originally, I tried copying it your way. After burning, I install, and then dbl click to play it... and it tells me it cant find the CD. I check that its there, and that it is named correctly. Still nothing. I use a No-CD patch, and then it wont work on Wormnet.

CloneCD texts tells me that CDX100E supports SAO only, and CDX120 supports RAW DAO 96

Right now I'm just trying to get the factory copy to work.... nothing I do gets it playing.... wierd....

oooooooo

Wow.. well, your exe fixed it. And it ran fine, till I tried connecting to Wormnet. It told me that my game was too out of date and I needed to update it. So, I download the Service Pack 1 from wwp.team17.com and apply it... and guess what problem is back! yeah... im right back where I started, with the logo appearing and then nothing....

I really appreciate your help though. Any more ideas?

(Maybe you could download the patch and apply it? Its a 5.72 mb file for the US version)

Whoa.... sweet... it worked! Thanks

So, now, technically I have the UK version?

So, would it be smart to replace the E:\Data\Resource\ENGLISH\WWP.exe with the one you supplied? and then re-burn it? (That way I won't have to be dependant upon the outside exe)

Again, thanks, I owe ya one.

So, um...

Copy the disc contents onto my hardrive. Erase E:\Data\Resource\ENGLISH\WWP.exe and replace it with which one? The one with or without the service pack? (WWP.zip/WWP2.zip)

And then burn everything back onto a disc?

Sorry, I got confused

DownwardSpyral 10-06-2002 21:44

Ahh.... it all makes sense now... :)

Again, thanks for the help, and I'll write back if I come across anymore serious problems. But it works now, and thats all I wanted.

To be truthful... I wish I lived in the land down under... it looks better than the Heartland of America....

Great... now I have that Men at Work song "Land Down Under" stuck in my head... thanks guys....

Which patch did you download CirKutz? I was under the impression you downloaded the European one. Am I right?

---Added 15 minutes later---

Uh.... problem.... I try copying the files to my harddisk, and it tells me it cannot read from the specified device. I tried other discs, and its fine. It appears my WWP disc cannot be read by my drives. (And yet, it somehow plays still)
