Burned vs Import?
Now that I have had time, I finally went back and read the past 5 pages of POSTS (sorry, I should have done this FIRST…but time time time…)! Anyway, Buzzon (in his joking way)…continually knocks Boot Disk’s vs. MOD chips. I am new to this entire scheme, and after fighting my Boot Disk (PS-X-Change 2), I am beginning to wonder if Buzzon maybe is right? Thanks to you all, I have learned a TREMENDOUS amount about MOD and my PS, and so thanks to you all.
The more I get into this, the more I realize there is always MORE! So, now another question: I am beginning to think IMPORT is different than BURNED…is this true? I assume (which usually makes and ASS out of U and ME) that when I bought my PS-X-Change 2, I could simply burn a copy of ANY NTSC or PAL game, start my PS-X-Change 2 Boot Disk, insert the BURNED copy of the game, press START and GO! Since this is not happening, a few thoughts cross my mind: 1) I am a dumbass and can not for the life of me get a GOOD burn of my game… (and I have check the MEGAGAMES website and I am good to go as far as which games I burn, which software to burn (cloneCD and CDRWIN) and which settings to use…thanks Buzzon and so many others). 2) IMPORT does not mean BURNED…but something else, and I need to buy a MOD chip for BURNED games 3) Buzzon is right, The PS-X-Change Boot Disk does not work with BURNED games, and I got screwed thinking it could. Not the first time, NEVER the last… - Muon Tracker (losing light speed quickly) |
Well, once again I did more research...and at least I did waste anyone's time this time.
I found that an IMPORT is different than a BURN (or back-up CD). I do not have any IMPORT's and do not plan on purchasing any in the future. I also found out that my PS-X-Change is SUPPOSED to play Back up CD's and Import CD's. This is good, because I want to play the Back up CD's. SO...I just have a BURNING problem, since none of my attempts have been successful working with my PS-X-Change 2. Thanks anyway everyone! |
well yes you can play burnt games with the boot disk. are you sure you loading the games rite? another thing is what type of media are you using, that could be your problem. try fliping the psx upside down to see if that works.(that will bring the laser closer to the disk and maybe read it) if that works than you will need to get a new laser

I went through all that you have done and found out that my cd-r was not one of the ones that can make working backups. I ruined a few discs before coming across that fact. Good luck, hope this is not the case with you!

Well, I finally did it! I had to ditch the CDCLONE, the NERO and work just with CDRWIN3.8G. It worked like a charm, and I used the following URL for a reference:
http://www.playstationfun.com/cdrwin37.html Eventhough the gifs/jpgs are for the 3.7F, it worked the same with the 3.8G and was fine. Thanks to all of you with your support and help! I learned quite a bit along the way, and am glad I did not get screwed with the Boot Disk way. <Buzzon...the Boot Disk is OK...man, its OK...> - Muon Tracker |
glad everything worked out for you
