Can CloneCD work with only 1 CDROM drive?

Hi! I have got CloneCD, and wanna make 1:1 copies of some CDs. However I have only one CDROM drive, that serves to both read and write CDs. In other words I'll have to transfer data from CD to hard drive, then from hard drive to blank CD. Now can I use CloneCD over here? Doesn't it make only CD to CD copies?

No it does not make just CD to CD.

CloneCD lets your CopyCD's to your HD in Image format,

It also lets you Write Images on your HD to CD's

And Finally lets you do CD to CD copying.

The thing is that in CD to CD copying, the Image will be copyed to your HD first, and then burned to a CD. This is actually better for copying games than going from CD to CD with two CD-RW drives. It helps eliminate copy protection problems.

Its best just to let it copy the CD to your HD and then to burn the image in almost all situations so just try it =)

CD to CD

I would have to agree with safe, on this one. On almost all situations it is better to copy to the hard drive first. Even on items that are not games. It just makes a better copy. :p

most of all people here never copy direct to cd to cd....first an image and then....if they want to..they burn the image...

I just finished using CloneCD for a direct backup of Dungeon Siege. CloneCD 4.x seems to make an image file first, and then it asks you to insert blank media so that it can copy it.

BTW: I only have a CD-RW drive in my computer.

if you had one more driver you could copy your cds on the fly......

But I wouldn't recommend on the fly at all - generally makes worse copies.

i just mentioned it i didn't say it is good...

From all that I have read, I believe that I am LUCKY to have only one drive in my computer. Many of the problems asked about on the forum seem to be fixed by making the CD image first. Although it seems that when I use the CD copier I make it create an image file first anyways. ;)

By the way: I CAN use 2 drives if I want to get my laptop out of my case...It has an internal reader and an external burner that I made many 1:1 copies with around 3 years ago.:D

I HAVE A CD-ROM AND A CD-REWRITER BUT ONLY USE MY CD-REWRITER TO MAKE BACKUPS.
I FIND IT BEST TO JUST USE THE CD-REWRITER TO READ AND WRITE.
THE CD-ROM IS USED TO LOAD AND PLAY GAMES AND SOFTWARE.
AND I ALLWAYS COPY TO THE HARDDRIVE FIRST.THEN TO A DISK.

the fact is not copying the contents of a cd in your hdd the fact is making an image of the cd into your hdd but with the right options enabled!!!
