my DC works a lot with my copies
when I copy games from other cd's, or from internet images, they work (not all the time), but my DC reads thecd all the time, makes noise, and the games take a long time to load whereas the original cd's work great
My burning characteristics are -liteon 24/10/40 5s59 - 8X writing speed -discjuggler 3.5779 - mode 1 cdrom XA TOC 2352 offset 0 - Cd's: verbatims (blue) can you help me? |
I don't use blue discs because they don't work on my Dreamcast. I use the lighter silver or champagne (pale green) colored discs and they work just fine.
The backup discs are going to spin faster and for longer than the original Dreamcast GD-ROM discs, because the data isn't as tightly compressed (not compressed at all!). A GD-ROM holds a gigabyte of data in the same space that a standard CD-R holds 650-700 mb. This means for the same amount of read-time with the same disc RPM, a CD-R will impart only about two-thirds of the data that a GD-ROM will. This means to get the same data-rate as a GD-ROM, the disc must spin longer and I would imagine it would also spin at a faster rate too (if it's a multi-speed drive). |
Blue CDs and light green CDs seem to work perfectly on French DCs.
I think it depends on where your DC's from. |
My ntsc dc plays all good branded media burnt at any speed.

My DC (UK) plays Verbatim CDR's (blue) without a problem burnt at 24x using a Plextor 24/10/40. Trying cleaning the lens of the DC with a cotton bud, a dirty lens will certainly affect load times etc.
