Fifa 2002, Madden 2002 & Nhl 2002
 

Hi, peeps:

Okay, here's the situation, I would appreciate your help on ...

I'm working with NEW RETAIL ORIGINALS, have made backups of each one and all backups work fine, no problems there.

The problem is, the "AutoUpdaters" on these games "seem" to be screwed:

On Madden 2002, I get a message saying "No update available", now I know there's an update v2.31 and my game is v2.0, so that's wrong.

On FIFA 2002, I get a long ass error message from the updater, basically saying the NET_CAST blah, blah, blah site at port 80 is unreachable blah, blah, blah and quits after you click OK.

On NHL 2002, same message as with FIFA 2002.

I have gone to ALL the EA sites, and I mean ALL their sites, including their FTP sites and can't find a friggin patch file available for download for FIFA 2002 nor MADDEN 2002 anywhere on their sites. They even have the directory for MADDEN 2002, under patches at their FTP site, but it's empty! and FIFA 2002 just has no directory, period!

These are like the best kept secret update patch files ever! I have read ALL the tech support docs, faqs, etc on the EA sites and there's nothing relating to this "AutoUpdater" problem. I have read some usenet articles of other peeps having this problem, but nothing is addressed by EA anywhere, that I could find.

I have even tried (*gasp!*) their "Tech Support(?)" and that has been, as expected, a total waste of time!

Anyone have a "DIRECT LINK" to these update patch files for FIFA 2002 and MADDEN 2002 -OR- a fix to the "AutoUpdater" problem?

BTW, I know it's not a firewall problem, etc. Not a newbie in the firewall arena, so don't waste your time going that route.

No they do not, the problem is the same with both the originals and the backups.

C'mon guys, I can't believe, I'm the only one having this problem :confused: surely someone else is too, no?

With all the great talent around this place, nobody can supply a file or link to these update files, on such recent titles??? :rolleyes:

Can anyone, at least, confirm if they have been able to update any of these titles, using the AutoUpdater, within the last month?

C'mon guys, I need your help! :)

Yes I had the problem with autoupdate with the same message CAST_NET,but I am sorry I dont know if I can help you because I dont remember how many fifa2002.exe I tried until I was able to update but I also remember that CAST_NET message stopped appearing when I quit the game and went to START menu EA SPORTS and ran CHECK FOR UPDATE and it worked. I can suggest trying the MEGAGAMES.COM (just go to Game fixes section) the file with wich Autoupdater works I think was the second from the top FIFA-2002-UK SD2 its a cd backup you will need the FIFA2002 CD-ROM(or backup of that CD-ROM)also i like to mention that in my case the game works only from the CD-R drive which I used to make the backup CD)


The problem I have is different I can not find an opponent in FIFA soccer 2002 on EA Matchup because my fifa2002.exe is different from the retail version I am able to play online games normally sometimes but in most cases the connection breaks. I know what causing the problem that is the difference of my FIFA2002.exe and the retail FIFA2002.exe so I just dont think that its possible to have much fun playing this game on EA Matchup (even through IP) because of the above mentioned difference.

Hmmmm, I will give it a try and post the results!

It just doesn't make much sense to me that my "original' won't work and a cracked version of the exe would, especially, since the updater doesn't seem to work off the main game exe, but rather from a different exe and dlls, but stranger things have happened. :confused:

Man this is just temporary problem if u are using retail FIFA2002 u should be able to update no problem (remember many games run better on Windows 9x OS)
