Ps2 booting question

hey ppl,

I just modded my ps2 with a neo2.2 + AR2 done by a company for 90 euros. Yesterday i downloaded the USA Release (STATiC) of Dynasty Warriors 3 and burned it on cd this morning with Fireburner @ 2x speed on a MMORE cdr. I boot my AR2 cd and select start game > without codes. Then i push my eject button until the power LED turns orange and the disc tray opens automatically. I put in my backup, wait until disc tray closes after 5 seconds and the power button turns green again. Then i push the X button and the AR2 screen dissappears. Then it shows a black screen and in stead of starting the game the screen stays black. Am i doing something wrong? Please Help me.

first of all, a neo 2.2 install for 50 euro (assuming the AR2 costs around 40) is a ripoff.
second, a neo 2.2 will NOT turn the power light orange. sounds more like you might've gotten a no solder chip or some other crap.
usually it should suffice to boot the AR2, select without codes, eject the CD, put in the cdr, and press X.

Arakon is right, you have a no-solder mod. I had the exact same problem when I first got my no-solder mod...So there are two things you should know. First, your iso or bin file cannot be more than 640 MB, and 2nd, you need to use Verbatim 74 minute CD-R's.

The media doesnt matter. As long as the TOC isnt over 640mb. All of my backups are on Verbatim 80min cdr's and they play great.

thnx for helping, i'm going to that company today to let it remodded. I don't think removing a no-solder mod will be a problem

Well, i have phoned the company and they told that there was a no-solder mod in my ps2 cuz of the motherboard version. They say they do it like that for the people who can't patch games and can play EA games that way. So, i'm gonna drop by later to let a extra chip installed in my ps2 so i can also play games over 650mb

All CD original games are less than 640MB.

sanjeevjaya1 09-06-2002 17:24

no no no let me clarify what I meant.....Do you know DVD- rips that are NORMALLY less than 640 mb ??? Thanx!!:D

Warlock 09-06-2002 18:19

Few dvd rips are less than 640mb. I would say it's about time to update to a AO3 or AO4 dvd-r burner. DVD ripping is becoming a thing of the past.

sanjeevjaya1 09-06-2002 18:38

Not 2 say dat I can't get hold of DVD-Rs but the problem is that I 've got a darn no solder chip on a PAL v5 board and have to live with this until I buy a Messiah from Charlie_Ps2, so... until then, does anyone know of games that r less than 640mb ?? and has to live the same nightmare as me ?? Also can an original NTSC GT3 CD boot on a PAL PS2 ?? Thanx.:( :(

Warlock 09-06-2002 18:51

I feel your pain sanjeevjaya1, my mod is not much better lol. I am getting a messiah from charlie also:)

sanjeevjaya1 10-06-2002 01:06
