Plexwriter 12X10X32A
 

Hi all,

Can anyone please help, I'm thinking of changing my Plexwriter 12X10X32A for another writer but I'm not sure which one.
A friend sujests AOpen writer, I'm thinking more like Philips because apparently you can copy everything with a Philips.
The reason I'm changing my Plex cause it can not copy Scandisk2.

Plextor 24X an up can copy safedisk 2. They have small bother with SD 2.51 where it needs to be patched with Betablocker and read and written slowly. The Plextors are excellent quality and come with a good two year warrenty. They a sturdy drives.

Lite-on's 24X and up can copy all SD2 games ok. They are good quality - but no where near the Plextor in my opinion. The Lite-on's are cheaper than the Plexy's.

The 12x Plexys copy SD2.

At least mine does with BetaBlocker :)

LG´s newer drives are said to be very good, they can copy SD 2.51 just fine. In any case, your new burner should be a Plex, a Lite-On or a LG. Phillips is not as good from my experience.

a philips is just as good as a plex ;) trust me, i've had both. the 20x, um, pccr2010 or something like that (my current philips) can handle safedisc revisions at least through civilization 3. MOHAA isnt 20 $ yet, so i cant try it on there, but i'll wager it fails, just like a plex

the only honest to god PLUS a plex has over a philips is the 2 year warranty. but im USA, so its only 1 year. pbbbbt. of course, paying 60 $ less for a philips compared.......

either way, get the lite on :)

This may be true of earlier models of the 24x plextor but any new 24x plextor will copy all sd2.51 and up without the use of betablocker , this guy failed to give you accurate info on the plex and sd2.51 . Dont let that myth put you off of buying a 24x plex .

i was just reading @ cdfreaks that the plex's can copy 2.51 w/AWS, but when they tried to patch the game, it wouldnt allow it too.....kinda weird, i thought.

also, since AWS and betablocker do the same thing, its semantics ;)
