Is Read Retries Really Necessary For Sd2 ???

i know clony recommends setting read retries to 3 for sd2 games , is it necessary for all drives or only for ones struggling to read the protection , i use my liteon dvd 163 for reading and was wondering if it actually mattered , i usually burn on the fly to my 24x plex .

You should set it somewhere between 0-3

The most important thing is Fast Error Skip.

i have cloned loads of games mohaa etc , lots of sd2 games , was wondering if 3 read retries was more for drives that could not read the protection very well or is it best to set it at 3 in all drives ?
If im using a liteon dvd163 to read and plex 24x to burn should i use AWS in clone , or again is this really only for drives struggling to copy sd2 ?

if ur drive gets going too fast over a particular section, it may have to try and re-read . if you set it too low, oops, bad image

Don't use it for less than 2.51. It's debatable whether the new AWS in Clone CD 4 helps the Plex 24X or not with SD2.51. It doesn't help with me - so I am tending to use Betablocker 2.51 for Safedisk 2.51 (and don't enable AWS).

BTW: Here's a bit of newsL
There's a new firmware revision out for out Plexy's 24X - it's only out in Japan but it's usually the same thing - I forget the Japanese site for it, but have a look for it.
Keeping fingers crossed that Plex have fixed this "unofficial" problem.
