Please help with The Sims.
 

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could please help me. I backed up copies of The Sims, Livin Large and Hot Date on my friend's computer (I don't have a burner) and I cannot for the life of me get Hot Date to run. It installs ok, but when I attempt to run the game, it gives me the red title screen and then says I need the CD to run the game, please restart.

I have looked at the solutions provided in this forum but nothing seems to work for me. Everything I have applied from Gamefix seems to give me an error of "The Sims has caused an error in Sims.exe, shutting down" or something. Please tell me, is there something I am doing wrong? Or is it the backup itself that is the problem? I copied the files to the hard drive and then burned them to the blank. I am also running Euro versions, is this to blame? I am new to backing up CDs, and Windows in general, so I do not know all the technical terms, etc. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Did you get the right crack version? For the right expansion? I think it has to be the Hot Date one since thats the newest that you mentioned.

btw: Your english is quite good, you dont have to excuse yourself.

I tried all of the Hot Date cracks on the page, and none of them worked. I have the feeling there is a step that I am missing and do not know about....is there an update I need to run on the program itself before the crack works? Do I need a special crack for Euro versions? I am running Win ME if that helps (ok I know it sucks, this is my husband's computer I have no say :P)

I dont know about the Sims since i dont have that game. Meaby you have to apply a patch before you crack. Have you tried Megagames, GameFix or Siedlers?

are you sure you got the right version for your version of your hotdate

Hi, I had this problem with my Mac. I emailed the Sims people at Maxis and they said that the order of install had to be: 1) Sims, 2) Livin Large and 3) House Party ( that was what I was trying to install at the time.) Took care of the error message. Hope that helps
